Job Description:

• Supervise employees of the Children Services Ongoing Unit to ensure child safety and effective service delivery

• Schedule, assign, review and evaluate employee work and performance

• Ensure all unit activities comply with departmental standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations

• Recommend and administer personnel actions, including oral and written reprimands, suspension, terminations, leave approvals, and timekeeping

• Provide training, coaching, guidance, and direction to staff

• Receive, review, and respond to employee grievances and complaints

• Review staff work products and overs unit staffing needs

• Assist with the development, implementation, and revision of agency policies and procedures

• Interview job applicants and make hiring recommendations

• Facilitate staff and team meetings to promote child safety and support families in remaining safely in the community

• Communicate unit plans, screening decisions, and case strategies with the court and community partners

• Advise the Social Service Administrator regarding unit needs, operational concerns, and recommend solutions

• Prepare activity, staffing and operational reports

 

Qualifications:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of appointment.

• At least three (3) years of experience as a child welfare caseworker in a Public Children Services Agency (PCSA)

• Prior supervisory experience preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related human services field required

• Master of Social Work (MSW) or master’s degree in counseling preferred
